More Grewal Drool.

As the media continue to salivate over the prospect of destroying a Conservative MP's career, I would like to simply remind them of two things;

1) The Minister of Health lied.

Liberal Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh quickly struck back, saying it was Grewal who made the first approach, seeking a cabinet post for himself and a Senate seat for his wife.

"He approached us. He approached us because he wanted to cross the floor," said Dosanjh, adding that Gurmant Grewal came back several times when the Liberals rejected his initial demands.

"I am actually offended that he wouldn't take no for an answer."

UD - It is not an easy thing. I wouldn't. You really think. My own thinking is it might be possible. No body will make you totally blunt promises, because that is not done in politics, usually.
Cabinet right away may be possible, You might be better off for yourself, I know that you might not be ready to do it right now but you certainly be looking for a significant appointment for her, not for you. How old are you now.

Does not sound like "no" to me.

2) The more you work to discredit an already stressed Grewal, the more likely you will generate public sympathy for him.

Especially if Nina describes how hurt he is over the entire situation and has much regret about how he tried to show the way in which Liberals operate, how he thought he was doing a service for his Party and Canada.(beginning to cry) He just thought he was being a good MP. We should protect whistleblowers in this country not destroy them.

Then the public will hear the tapes and focus on the goodies Tim and company didn't offer. The tapes themselves will be less relevant.

Can it be happening already?

As Bill also suggests.

Not according to the Latest Decima poll it isnt. THe Tories slumping into a virtual tie with the NDP? The Globe blamed some of this on the Grewal affair.

Yes , but at some point the public says enough and starts to have sympathy for the guy.

I hope you're right Derek, especially with the way they're going after him.
They weren't questioning his citizenship when they were sizing him up for Cabinet, that's for sure.

Derek,

You may want to check out the latest at Buckets of Grewal and Section15. Not only have your quotes above been called into question, but the Punjabi translation seems to indicate Dosanjh did say no. Now, I'm no Liberal, but fair is fair...

Mike,

Fair is fair for sure. The more scrutiny the tapes receive the better.

My point however is that the tipping point of fairness is reaching a critical point to which the publics view becomes one where the scrutiny is viewed as unfair for Grewal.

Threats of deportation, ect., only highlights (in yellow) the brutal nature of the PMO and shows what Chretien had to deal with for 10 years. Just ask Warren Kinsella.
