Gerard Kennedy

I would be curious to see how Ontario grapples with having a Western based Ontarian vs an Ontario based Westerner to vote for in the next election, Perplexing indeed.

Could be the biggest gains in NDP history in that province. Bring it on!

You're suggesting a left leaning Liberal popular in Ontario would lose seats to the NDP? Huh?

See Dan, A long time ago, way back before blogging was the thing to do, I surmised in a thread at Mapleleaf that Ontario just can't get behind a western leader in large enough numbers. At the time it was just a theory and the argument was that Stephen Harper would not be able to get above 40 seats no matter what the Liberals did. This was even before Adscam and every other scam the Liberals have been involved or appeared to be involved in.

So with two leaders from the west, I'm guessing more Ontarians would vote NDP, assuming Layton is still the front man.

But perhaps it is good enough to be based in Ontario!

I really don't think Ontario would have a problem geting behind a leader from the West (this is coming from someone born and raised in Ontario and who's lived in Alberta too).
Can't see Gerard pulling it off though, he's too far to the left and would be easily painted as a easy-spending lefty during an election.
